Hayk's Bow

Draw the long bow of Hayk — the patriarch the Armenians are named for — and send arrows across the plain into Bel’s fortresses. Towers of tuff and timber collapse under real physics; topple the golden idols, and face Bel himself behind the last gate. Seven fortresses, a handful of arrows each, and every arrow you spare is score. Hayk’s Bow is a free browser game: no download, no account — one drag and the string is drawn.

The shot that named a nation

Movses Khorenatsi’s History of Armenia tells it this way: Hayk the archer refused to bow to Bel, the tyrant of Babylon, and led his people north into the highlands. Bel followed with an army. Where the two hosts met, Hayk drew his wide-arching bow and sent a three-feathered arrow across the field; it struck Bel’s chest and passed through, and the tyrant’s host scattered. The battleground came to be called Hayots Dzor — “the valley of the Armenians.”

Armenians still call themselves Hay and their country Hayastan, and tradition traces both names to Hayk. The arrows you loose here carry three feathers, the way the old telling describes them.

FAQ

Is Hayk’s Bow free to play?

Yes. Hayk’s Bow runs free in your browser — no download, no account, and it works on phones, tablets, and desktops.

Who are Hayk and Bel?

Hayk is the legendary patriarch of the Armenians, and Bel the Babylonian tyrant he defied. In Movses Khorenatsi’s telling, Hayk felled Bel with a single long-bow shot — Armenians call themselves Hay and their country Hayastan after him.

How does scoring work in Hayk’s Bow?

Every fortress grants a set number of arrows. The arrows still in your quiver when the last idol falls are added to your score, and your best campaign total is the record.

How do I knock an idol down?

Hit the idol, or the masonry holding it up. An idol counts as felled when it tips far over or falls from its perch — collapsing a tower onto it works as well as a direct hit.

Do I have to hit Bel directly?

No, but it is the fastest way. On the last fortress a fast arrow that reaches Bel fells him on the spot — or you can bring his own gate down on top of him.
