Tuff Tower

Stack sliding blocks of pink tuff — the rose stone Yerevan is built from — into a tower that climbs from valley haze to the stars. Tap to drop each block; whatever hangs over the edge is sliced off and falls. Land dead-center and the block stays whole. Tuff Tower is a free browser game: no download, no account, one tap and you are building.

The pink stone of Yerevan

The blocks you are stacking are tuff — volcanic stone that hardened out of ash, light enough to cut and carve, and in Armenia it comes out of the ground rose-pink. Yerevan is called the Pink City because of it: under Alexander Tamanyan’s 1924 plan the city was rebuilt in rose tuff, and whole avenues still glow warm at sunset. The city had a long head start — it was founded as the Erebuni fortress in 782 BC, which makes Yerevan older than Rome. Every tenth layer of your tower carries a carved band, the way Armenian masons dressed their stone.

FAQ

Is Tuff Tower free to play?

Yes. Tuff Tower runs free in your browser — no download, no account, and it works on phones, tablets, and desktops.

How do perfect drops work in Tuff Tower?

A drop within a hair of dead-center snaps into perfect alignment and keeps the block’s full size. Five perfect drops in a row make the block grow back toward its starting size.

Why do my blocks keep getting smaller?

Whatever hangs past the layer below is sliced off and falls away. Only the overlap stays, so every off-center drop shrinks the next block — center your drops to keep the tower wide.

What is tuff stone?

Tuff is a light volcanic stone formed from compacted ash. Armenian tuff is famously rose-pink, and Yerevan — rebuilt in it — is nicknamed the Pink City.
